Has untradable contract, they'd have to pay him anyway and also pay another 12th man a min. contract.

Plus, salary aside he's almost the ideal 12th man. He even looks like a cheerleader.

Is it really a two horse race - Derrick vs Lebron? Because despite being a Heat fan I have to give it to Rose.

Also, it's a shocker that Kobe is likely going to retire as one of the 5 best players in history while only winning 1 MVP..

i think at this point, it's a one-horse race. if there is a second horse it would be howard.
it's not a shock about kobe. to me what's a shock is that phil jackson has only one coach of the year once. traditionally these popularity contests go to the player/coach who has made the most difference to the team that year. if you have good team already, you don't tend to get it.

Kobe's first 3 peat happened when it was Shaq's team. Post Shaq they were in their adjustment periods until they acquired Pau Gasol. Kobe himself doesn't elevate a team. He's a ballhog without a supporting cast. How is Lebron even in contention for mvp talks after all that media coverage of heat breaking down during that certain period. It's Rose w/o a doubt. Did you not watch the magic game? Rose made the Heat cry in their locker room. Rose made the longest tenure coach retire from the Jazz. Rose made a 5 year old Atlanta fan cry and TNT was heartless enough to capture it.
