Or remember those sort of hobbiest/hippy city BBSs? There was a network of them but I can't remember what the name was.

i remember my cousin had the internet installed before i did...we stayed up all night long in aol chat rooms....we'd end up losing connection and having to log back in...took an eternity.

Or what dial up sounds like. I wonder if my kids will even recognize references to phones with wires attached to them. It's a different world.

One of my fondest memories was gaining access to a linux box on a cablemodem alpha test. This was in the days of like 14.4 speeds. I used to pingflood the **** out of people on IRC. Would also spoof ident and takeover chans with ease.
