This. I've been studying the place for a bit, having fallen in Seerious lust with the Nomos Tangente. Several of the most respected watchmakers in the world are in this little town:
Glashütte Original
Nomos
Union Glashütte
And, A. Lange & Söhne, who make the most elaborate and expensive pure (not jool encrusted) watches I know of. They have chronographs at half a megabuck!

Just pick up a 1982 16030 DateJust. Loving it so far. When I was growing up, I would always see this on my uncle wrist. He would let me wear it during a family function and this is bringing back some warm memories. edit : add some of my own pics this time.

That looks like a Bund (German military) watch strap. I'm pretty sure the one pictured above is of leather.

Bund straps are readily available. Here is one source, but you can google for others.

This one is in black buffalo leather.
