Very, very sharp. Too much so for the C of conservative business dress, but I really like that. It's like giving the finger to normal dress code standards by going to a formal extreme rather than going casual.

I chose my college at university partly for its reputation for better-than-average food, partly for its wine cellar, partly because it's really pretty... and yes, partly because I liked the scarf colours.

Grey solid jacket, crazy plaid shirt, spread button-down collar, no tie with the sport coat, a pocket square without a tie, argyle socks and frankenshoes. I think I covered a lot of no-no's here

But you make a good point that I could definitely have added navy trousers in the mix

I actually thought they were navy trou - hence the comment. I all looks pretty good though.

Blazer and odd pants may not be conservative business dress for most, but this is pretty typical of what I wear to work.

Thought I'd cross post today since two people commented on how conservatively I was dressed today.

gdl, Those trousers have no loops, my only pair of odd trousers in that configuration. I may get them sewn on, actually, as I think have enough cloth left over. I like the cleaner waistline on a suit, but maybe it is too dressy for wearing with odd jackets. Trini, White shirt would definitely be safer--that's more sober than I typically dress, though probably more classically within the limits of conservative business dress. Details of cloth on coat and shirt which are lost in the other pic (very small hopsack and micro gingham). I'm not terribly good at taking these, but here's a shot at it anyways.

Flash, hell. Admit it, Manton. You changed jackets just to screw with us.

Manton - what kind of cloth is that? Looks like a twill?

I've got a black on white cotton map of London in 1852 too, but I don't like it as much. I think Ordnance Survey Maps or Navigational Charts could make interesting pocket squares, but I've yet to find any.
