Well there can be pleats in both places normally. The back pleats can go away for sure, but I have never seen (or noticed) a shirt that didn't have sleeve pleats. Sleeve pleats can look a little messy so it would be interesting to see how a shirt turned out that didn't have any.

For $800 you should have a lot of options. What exactly are you looking for - fabric, cut, etc.? Most major retailers will likely have sales starting soon.

hi you old gangsters of style,
i am getting a dark chocolate brown suit with a herringbone pattern. Do you have recs on style and color of shoe to match? I am thinking a burgandy wingtip. But have also considered going with a lighter shade of brown. Thoughts?

The top one looks wool to me, the bottom one cotton. Likely the bottom will always look more casual, less structured than the top. But yeah, it would look similarly casual.

What is the sizing like on the Isaia Napoli line in the shoulders? I'm typically a 39-40 short but the napoli line is described as having a soft rounded shoulder, so I wonder if a 38s might work.

I saw a "$4500" Brioni double-breasted blue blazer at Filene's Basement today. It had recently arrived and was marked $1449. There were no department store tags on it . . . and the non-working cuffs already had buttons sewn on. I didn't pull the trigger . . . but am still thinking about it. Any pro's or con's?

Depends on where you would wear it. The lighter brown would be more informal than burgundy, but would probably look good either way.

Dark chocolate brown is fine, but it shouldn't be your first suit as it is not as versatile as navy or charcoal.

I told them to do it without back pleats only. Hope it will turn out ok

Do this shoes look too pointy ? Just picked up these burgundy cap toe brogue oxfords by Alden. Not sure what model they are. Got 'em for $7 at Salvation Army. Anyone clue me in as to the model?

Yeah, thanks... that's what I thought. I think I'll have to look for brown bluchers in other place as Bexley's offer is too limited. A pitty because price was good
