Probably. There are far worse things going on in the world right now that deserve one's attention than some stupid symbols on a shoe's midsole. Which is why people should stop making a big deal about it.

Damn, my TBS order came in and they sent the wrong sneaks.

Ended up with the all white margiela lo's instead of the painted lo's.

Sent off an email, I'm sure they will sort it out.

There are far worse things, which doesn't have any bearing on the fact that this is still offensive. I don't think that a simple letter is making a big deal out of it.

well i would recommend doing some research before flipping out and sending letters, etc. A) the symbol on the shoes is not a nazi swastika. it is the hindu symbol from which the nazi one was based. this was one of the first things i learned when living in germany. B) the number 88 symbolizes, in the Chinese culture, fortune and good luck since the word 8 sounds similar to the word Fā. this is further substantiated by the fact that there are other articles of clothing with african headpieces that have the word "FORTUNE" sewn onto them. C) the "totenkopf" symbol was used by the prussian army almost 200 years before WW2. It originates from Christian symbolism and represents the overcoming of death. The symbol was quite common during the 18th century. for every person that is misinterpreting the symbols and jumping to conclusions, there are indians and chinese out there outkopping you

i dont think its kidding, its ignorant to just assume anything shaped in that manner is a reference to nazis.

I don't think anyone that's commented is ignorant of the fact that swastikas didn't originate with nazis, or that pirates rock skull/cross bones and 88 is a number.

that swastika with the curly ends is also part of buddishm and is used in chinese and japanese culture. they even have keyboard/unicode characters for it. the theme of the collection is contemporary pirates. if you show all those things to anyone chinese they will not be as confused as americans who spend too much time on fashion forums. if you honestly think there is a nazi agenda behind the clothing brand, then you should probably put on a tinfoil hat and prepare for the apocalypse. like dan brown books, there are 10 million ways to read into something like this.

Shrug, I'm not the one writing the letter. I just think your point is weak. I'm chinese and can speak fluent mandarin but somehow I've managed to live my life swastika free! Maybe my parents didn't love enough to hook me up.

As far as nazi agenda or not I doubt its anything more than poor taste. Were they aware of how their product may be perceived? I feel like they did which is what in my mind makes it poor taste. Are these artists that are willing to sacrifice perception to stay true to their vision? Maybe, but doubtful.

lol. are you kidding? people like you are proponents (read: financial agenda) of the republication of Huckleberry Finn in public schools with the N-word replaced with "slave". OMG. look at this! there are three skulls. and each has a letter in it. the letters spell SEX. ZOMG. and there are catholic crosses. that's sacriligious. and a sun behind the E which symbolizes light and heaven. but then there are also symbols of fortune with a club, a heart and a spade. and mini-skulls and bones within the skulls! what does it all mEaN?!!?!? maybe its all references to the vietnam POW scene in deer hunter when they are playing russian rolette and blowing their brains out but actually its a salvation! in my twisted mind, i can come up with 50 offensive affiliations for any given symbol. i can also come up with 50 unoffensive affiliations. its not a big conspiracy. deal with it. all the drama however has earned them a few extra sales im sure. mission accomplished.

i dont know man why your parents never taught you that. i lived next to some indians that had occasional religious rituals where they would place "swastikas" made with red sand outside their door with candles. this symbol is so prevalent in india it would blow your mind.....they put them on doors, rings, temples, buildings, cars, cakes, etc. when i first saw the picture of the shoe i did not think nazi. i thought indian.
