Our parcel has shrunk thru the years, at one time we owned the property where Treasure Island is, also the shopping center behind Dunkin Donuts as well as across from the Webster theatre. Neighborhood has changed a little in the last 90 years.

So as I am on the train home right now and passing by the Horween factory, which you can see if you look closely, a thought occurred to me that I find quite ironic. Despite these great leather goods being made in Chicago, it is hard to find a selection of Alden shoes here. AE seems to have the Midwest saturated, but it's slim pickings on Alden shoes.

I currently get my shoes from the other coasts via the internet or when I travel, which saves on sales tax, but involves hit or miss for sizing or lots of trial and error with shipping different sizes.

If anyone has suggestions (besides BB and Barneys), please advise.

Yeah, the irony sucks. Not one of my many pairs of Aldens was purchased any where close to home.

I think Tom and Steven (from Leather Sole and Leffot respectively) should get together and open a kick-ass joint venture right here in the middle of the country.

I believe all Alden retailers are independent, no factory owned shops.

Yes, they have a couple of pair and can order things, but we need an Alden Shop in the Loop!

On second thought, the last thing I need is to kill my lunch hour buying more shoes.

This is incorrect. The Alden SF and DC stores are company owned. The Alden NYC is an independent retailer.

I would like one on the north side and it should carry all special order models, preferably in the hard to obtain shell colors like Whiskey and Ravello. If I could find a Whiskey LHS in a 7E and an indy shoe in brown Chromexcel, I would be in business.
