Yesterday, the shirt and shoes were pushing the conservative business dress envelope. Today, it's the suit and shoes. I know, a white linen square would be "better".

It's a pale blue

I was going to go with a plain white but it seemed so stark at the time but I tend to agree that it would have looked better.

Cheers

I really can't stand solid socks. And the shoes, well ... I gues I don't love tassel loafers. Those I especially don't love. The whole ensemble seems to demand a more "serious" shoe.

I do love the tie and how you used it.

Cheers.

I do need a dark brown bal in my life but until the C&J demand frenzy blows over, I'm limited in what I have in that department.

I could've gone with a tan oxford or wingtip but I felt a bit spring-like and went with the loafer.

I have to say I really love this thread.

The fairly strict conservative business dress aesthetic bears absolutely no practical relation to my life apart from very rare occasions, but nonetheless the thread still makes for fascinating reading in a somewhat twisted "through the looking glass" way. Really great fun and good addition to the board.

Should be pinned.

I'm not sure - the scales are very small, smaller than croc. My grandfather left these for me when he passed away. He had them for decades so they're probably from the 50's or 60's.

No one commented on mine, that means I'm actually dressed conservatively.

Excellent tie. Panta?

I like the square. I think what pushes this for me is the shirt. I am definitely not a fan of jacquard shirtings. They look "slick" to my eye and always have. I also think the all-over neat pattern of the shirt is too close in scale to the small houndstooth of the tie and especially to the small houndstooth in the center of the plaid.

Solid shirt would solve all.

This is called jacquard? I would have called it pindot oxford or something. The pictures must be misleading about the scale of that pindot because it's probably 1/10th of the scale of the houndstooth in the tie (which is an unlined wool Isaia btw). From 3 feet away, the shirt simply looks like a very light blue solid - you have to be very close to see any texture in it.

I do agree that a solid one would have been better - but I have a strange way to dress in the morning - I start with the shirt, and take them in the order they're hanging on the rack. Then I pick a suit, then a tie, then a square and shoes. But that's a different topic altogether.

the close-up - it's a true navy (rather dark) and the burgundy overcheck is far less prominent IRL.
