It's actually a make-shift tree, a small PVC dowel inserted against paper wadding in the toe. Considering that the shoes don't come with trees, I was very impressed with this method of preserving the shape until the shoes show up and you can insert your own trees. Alan informed me that they're hoping to get trees in the shop soon, but Carmina doesn't offer lasted trees, which, he agreed, is a shame.

I vote for hollow trees like St Crispin's uses. I hate how much weight cedar trees add to my suitcase when I travel.

When I go on my 2-3 week international trips my bag is pretty much at the limit, and I get dinged about 1/3 the time on European flights given the lower baggage allowance. But perhaps no more!

How much of a weight difference is the hollow pair versus solid ones? Perhaps hollow trees = ability to take more sh00z on a trip

around 500 gramm/pair.

it is also the special wood, which makes a difference.

e.g. balsa is also very good for travel trees. my tree maker will do a series of trees made from larch later this year. looking forward to them.

I've ordered shoes twice and each time it took not much more than a week. I was amazed, but not entirely surprised.

I had a similar experience. I've ordered shoes twice, and each time they were delivered in under a week.
