Aixois is right there too and would make a good meet up spot for drinks. If anyone hasn't been there, it's great. Eating lunch on their patio during spring is one of my two or three favorite dining experiences in KC.

Have you lived here before Stephen?

When they open the smoker and the whole place fills with the delightful smell of cooked flesh you know you're in heaven. I also really appreciate the fact they used to advertise that they cooked their fries in lard.

Deliciousness!!!!

I love me some OK Joe's but ever since Anthony Bourdain said it was one of the restaurants you had to eat at before you die you cannot get into the one on Mission Rd (the one in the gas station). I am not waiting in line for 45 minutes then waiting for a table to eat BBQ...I don't care how good it is. I just end up going to Arthur Bryants because it's less than a mile from my loft.

I tried going there when I was home for Christmas. I was driving back from the Plaza at 2:45 on a Tuesday and I was like "Oh. Right between lunch and dinner on a weekday. Perfect time to go." 90 minute wait. Line was out the door.

usually ok joe's is dead mid to late afternoon - people aren't out of work yet, but they aren't on lunch break either. oftentimes i can walk right in and get food immediately. calling in an order is also an underrated option if you're getting it to go.

as for hudson and jane, IIRC they used to be on the plaza right? and didn't they get their start as The Polo Store, before ralph started running company owned stores? I could be wrong. I always wanted to go into their store when it was on the plaza, but I was probably 19 then and always feel bad going in small shops when I can't afford a single thing in them. looks like a legt brand lineup though - with the complete collapse of jack henry it's too bad they aren't till on the plaza though, local menswear is in sad shape

don't get me wrong, OK Joe's is good BBQ. Each time I have been there, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I really don't think it is a place to make sure you go before you die though. Maybe a place a KC resident should go before they die...

I always wondered what happened to the Polo store on the Plaza. I remember feeling the fabric on a $1500 cashmere suit and thinking security was going to tackle me or something.

I remember when H & J closed and they had a 90% sale. I remembering seeing purple label SCs for 100 dollars. Too bad that store went down. Plaza is becoming the **** now since that Forever 21 store was brought in. The ironic thing is it's stuck between Halls and Tivol.

Wow how did I miss those deals

You can get some sick deals in this city thanks to the overall poor taste level.

Anyways....weather is getting nice again. Almost patio weather, almost.
