Thanks guys! Glad you like them. The second photo shows the closest true-to-life color. They're definitely bulky in the sole which takes some getting used to, but I look forward to breaking them in.

Moo - these are Horween and technically the same color as the C&J for RL Darltons. I believe you saw what was initially selling the recent Vass saddle shells for and these were around there.

Bad balance on the double monks? Can't agree with you there.

The whiskies are a touch wide, but not by much. They are very comfortable at this early stage.

What is the "toe spring"? I haven't heard that term before.

it is basically how much the end of the toe lifts of the floor, normally IIRC it can be any where from 1/2 to 2/3 of a cm, thro brand a region will have a play on this, if the whole shoe is flat then it migh/ should cause the shoe to double flex, can also happen when the heel is too high too

To each their own. I guess I'm just easy to please! I've been trying not to be nitpicky about minor details. Takes the fun out of things.

it's in fact not a minor detail and it shouldn't happen in this league. "you" pay top dollar for that, not? the haf-sole is not their strongest asset, though it's favoured by a lot of people. to each their own.

on a side note: i don't make fun on the regard of the health of my feet. period.

nice, and if you don't mind, can you tell me what price they quote for this? I send Vass an email about some pricing on Shell Boots or Shell Chukka, never got a response, and never really got the time to call them during work either...
