Thinking about trying some other brands, JL doesn't really do it for me. Vass, well, you know. Next stop G&G. Would I be taking a step up, down or making a lateral move IYHO?

In my opinion, that would be a step up. Not a big step, mind you, but a step.

Agreed. G&G is still small enough to control quality. I rate my MTO G&Gs above Lobb Prestige for comfort and give them a slight edge on craftsmanship.

Better? Hmm. I don't know. You're talking about two products of exceptionally high quality. For my taste, G&G is tiny step up. If I were limited to just one shoe supplier, and it had to be one of those two, I'd pick G&G.

Apples and Oranges, IMO. EG and G&G provide different looks. Also, one is more expensive (G&G) than the other (EG). EG has a very precise yet warmer, more welcoming look and feel and a more attractive last selection, IMHO. It is the one I prefer. G&Gs are more severe and fashion forward in styling. To me, EGs have more grace. It much depends on your personal style. As to finish and craftsmanship, they are both the cat's meow and should not disappoint anyone. There is no step up or down here.

G&G from what ive seen is so subtle a step up that most common persons won't notice it. they are both in the superlative rtw realm.
you have to go with what looks the best to your eye.
EG has the lasts that put it over the top for me. i dont particularly like G&Gs pointier lasts. and there is something off about where their punches end up falling on the toe. sometimes a bit too high up in the vamp area. that is off to me in terms of visual styling. it goes into the creases.

the G&Gs have a better beveled waisted area than the EGs though. but that i dont put too much stock in like some people here.

I see it as EG is the hottest cougar MILF you have ever seen. A little curvier, more refined, something to admire over a long gaze. G&G is more like the Gisele Bundchen of shoes. Long. Sexy. Svelte.

I disagree that G&G is a step up from EG. EG's finishing and quality is far superior to G&G from my experience, regardless of waist beveling. If you're really worried about that, go for the EG Top Drawer stuff.
