Can this windowpane DB be shortened?

I've got a bit of a dilemma. I have a really bold windowpane DB suit that needs to be shortened about a half inch max. Because the bottom of the jacket ends on one of these large windowpane's I'm worried that shortening it will look off in some asthetic way? It has a nice finished look to it with the pattern ending where it currently does. Can this be shortened without throwing everything off kilter?

Here is a photo of one of Mbrenin's DB's in a similar pattern albeit somewhat more subdued overcheck. His doesn't end on one of the overchecks and looks fine but again isn't as bold of a pattern.

To me, it would look better shorter. Don't care for the brown plaid "border" look. Just my preference.

I'd be careful about the amount to chop off though - if you compare the overall length relative to the sleeve cuff, it's not too much longer than MBrenin's photo.

Sleeve's haven't been shortened yet. I'm Probably only taking a quarter inch off, should work out fine.

The pattern of the pocket flaps and bottom of the sleeves will give you an idea of how it looks without the stripe.

Your tailor could easily baste the bottom up in 2 minutes for you to see what it would be like before he has to rip a stitch.

Once it is done you probably won't think about it again.

+1...It will look fine. No one would even notice the difference. I think it's likely just a fluke that it ends on the border of the pattern in the first place.

Thanks TRINI. It's actually a Tom Ford (gasp!) 3-piece DB suit in some heavy ass wool. Fits amazingly well except for being a touch long. Will post pics when it comes back from the tailor.

I thought it looked familiar...especially the lapels. Looking forward to the pics.
