Mrs. Spoo deserves something great for her patience on that.

I think you are quite wrong in this instance. I don't love all of his fits, but I really liked this one. It has nothing to do with who he is, and everything to do with the quality of this ensemble.

Thanks!

Mike

I was posting in response to Moo and never mentioned O/O specifically. My comments were intended as a more generic observation of a trend on SF - I thought O/O's pic was OK and probably should have stated that more clearly.

Spoo what self-timer app do you have? There are like a billion of them. Is it any good?

The shirt is a classic blue gingham, one of three primary colors. The base of the bow tie is yellow, another primary color, but in a different scale, and the white echoes the shirt.

Meanwhile, the red pocket square is the third primary color, and yet very subtly recalls the blue of the gingham. To cap it off, the faint windowpane of the sport coat repeats the white base of the shirt.

Grey goes with everything, and (along with white) serves to ground the 3 primary colors.

Here you have an education, not only combining the 3 primary colors, but how to mix patterns in different scale.

Finally, you have the lower half, which combines solid grey flannel trousers (while complementing the sport coat in color, the solid serves as a pleasant contrast to the upper half) with brown suede shoes. The socks provide a patterned break between the two solids. Monkstraps have been chosen here, as, like most open laced shoes, they are traditionally worn with sportcoats, blazers, and odd coats.

The lower half exemplifies complementary colors & textures; the upper, contrasting.

With dutiful nods to traditional men's suiting, and an outstanding grasp of colors, patterns, scales, and textures, oldog/oldtrix provides free schooling in classical dress on these pages. One could have chosen another of his fits to assail, but it was not at all wise in this instance.

Right, but it doesn't look so good. I think it's the tie.

I was all set to do the collar pin too, but realized after I'd gotten dressed that this shirt's collar is too wide spread for it. Oh well.

Why did I even bother entering this f*****g contest? (Awesome)
