Ha. Enough with the Italian styling. As a man with stumpy chunky feet, stumpy chunky shoes is what I need but there just aren't enough super wide fittings around. Could this be why Fred Flinstone goes bare footed?

I am looking at purchasing a windowpane suit from the B&S but the waist is a 33. I am a 31. How easy can a tailor take in the 2inches and slim the pants? Will it look obvious considering it's windowpane style?
I have spoken with a tailor and he said "yeah I can do it " but I am wondering what the wise gents here think??

I reckon taking in two inches at the waist is no big deal. You're losing the fabric 'vertically' at the back seam. The fabric will still match up vertically and I don't think the windows ever match up perfectly on both axis across the backside because it needs to have shape. Should be the same story slimming the trousers down the side seam. I don't think pattern-matching on trousers is as important as it is on the front of a coat.

While I'm at it can I brag some more about my ongoing Vinnies blitz? Today I picked up a pair of these $177 Hackett trousers in close to immaculate nick in my size for the princely sum of $6. This is just getting silly now!

Just been to the aforementioned cobbler a couple of days ago and bought a polish/leather conditioner. Chatted with the guy there on my recent AE cop off eBay. He seems nice and seem to know what he's talking about.

Quar, do let us know if you do decide on resoling there, as I will also be resoling probably in a month's time.

I disagree. I think taking 2in in from the waist changes the whole sit and structure of the pants.
I took in a waist from a 34 to a 32 and it looked silly.
