Have you tried any of their other outerwear? Should I go true to size? I am looking at a flyer jacket and a medium is 23" across the chest and a small is 22". Seems big for a small.

I would add Brady Bags. They are still made in the UK with top materials (unlike Barbour bags which are now made in Asia). No one makes a better bag of it's kind.

Would you happen to know how their garments fit?

Nope. The folks at Triads are very helpful, though.

Speaking of Heritage Research, it seems they also have generous sizing. I take a medium in most everything and can get wear smalls based on some of their measurements. Have you experienced the same? I only have the shawl collar deck sweater but am ordering the Fausto Coppi jacket and the Flyer Jacket.

I've only bought two overshirts - the Yukon and the USN, both in large, but they're very snug on my 42.5 chest.

I was looking at this on Triads site - looks good.

Not familiar with Brady. My wife bought me a couple of Bill Ambergs' canvas & leather bags for my recent birthday and they're beautifully made: www.billamberg.co.uk - I must post some pics soon.

Universal Works is carried by quite a few stores - I've used www.danieljenkins.co.uk and www.cloth-lurgan.co.uk

If anyone grabbed one of the Heritage Research Flyer jackets from the Bureau and they don't work out PM me please! I drug my feet a little too long.

^the style has been copied by ps, cabourn, oliver spencer in their fw10/11 portfolio. Wouldn't buy that cheapness as depicted on that site.

Heritage Research flight jacket is amazing, BTW. Fits big, I sized down to a small. 6' 185 lbs. Pics to come.

an update on Universal Works sizing:

I own a Waddington padded vest and it was slightly generous fitting (a large would comfortably fit over a thick sweater on my 42.5" chest, and is slightly generous over just a shirt), assuming sizing would be pretty consistent I ordered a couple of their spring/summer vests in a large, expecting to need to significantly tighten up the back adjuster, however these fit much closer - just large enough over a light weight shirt with the adjuster fully relaxed.

and a query on sizing for Folk outerwear:

Anyone got one of their coats - how generous are they? A size 4 supposedly goes up to a 42" with a size 5 starting at 42" - I'm wanting a fairly close fit so a 4 would seem the best option but not if they're snug sized to start with.
