This topic is has seriously been beaten to death. How about a thread on what products are made in China but still maintain quality? Now that would be interesting. Seriously, let the heritage Made in USA talk die already.

Off the top of my head, we would want to add the following:

I noticed that Anderson Little blazers in the list. They are great blazers for the price point, and make amazing travel blazers. They're a blend, of course, but that helps them stay wrinkle free, which is great.

I bought one as my beater "just in case" blazer, and I've come to really enjoy it.

As a bit of a road warrior myself, I will need to check these out.

When you order, you can also order a set of silver buttons if you are not a fan of the brass colored ones. Although, even the default brass colored ones that they come with are quite muted.

E seconds are made in the U.S.

I'm not sure about the firsts.

BBC, thanks for your list. Edit, you might edit it to add things as they come along. I suggest adding Glaser Designs, Goodhew socks, and Agave jeans.

I don't think the OP specified which country. So feel free to add Chinese ones. I've been very happy w/ Chan for a suit and a sport coat and Peter Lee for a few shirts.

Here are some that I've had personal experience with, though not necessary dress-wear.

Made in USA

Shirts
Taylor Stitch (http://www.taylorstitch.com/) - Pricey for MTM but customer service is excellent and they are always improving their already good quality. They offer full-custom shirt, as in any details can be adjusted and they'll accommodate personal designs outside of their generic variations.

Measure-up Shirts (http://www.measureupco.com/) - Another pricey but quality MTM shirt makers. I've never dealt with them directly but rather through a store.

Ties
Pierrepont Hicks (http://pierreponthicks.com) - Unique selection of more casual ties.

Shoes
Danner Boots Company (http://www.danner.com/) - Boot makers that offer light and comfortable hiking boots. Excellent hiking boots for dry weather like California.

Made in Japan

Shoes
Ando Seikutsu (http://www.ando-shoe.com/) - Maker of the toughest mountaineering boots out there. Not exactly in the trend with light & cheap, but construction wise, these boots are made sturdier than even Paraboot's mountain boots. (Waterproofed welt & stitch, triple insulation, triple stitching on the inside & outside of the ankle, etc.)

I think the thread was started as a "let's not buy Made in China" products. Or even products made in Asia. He wrote

His post is half economic nationalism and half racism. So let's talk about quality MIC products. WW Chan and Peter lee are good starts. These cashmeres - called long staple cashmeres - measure at least 1.4 inches in length, which make them some of the strongest in the world. Does anyone know of Chinese companies using this cashmere? Or maybe even foreign companies buying the highend cashmere from China?

Also, I think these Vietnamese Goodyear welted shoes may be promising.

Changy, A good question: First, Sam Hober is Samantha Hober my 5 year old daughter. Next, Sam Hober is an American company, that pays American taxes with mostly American staff. We started In New York 50 years ago and have always been very international. As in using fabrics woven in Italy, India and America. Currently, we have a workshop in Bangkok, and farms in the Isan Thai countryside where we have grown mulberry and raised silk worms and we have a design studio in the south of France. Until a few years ago we made ties, pocket squares and scarves in Denver then we moved our workshop to Thailand. We no longer have factories in New York or New Jersey as we used to although we may very well be active again in America with some specialized aspects of what we do.
