Not for any occasion, no; you should not be wearing them to a black tie event for example...

A suede oxford is probably the most versatile of all shoes though.

Can the suede oxford shoe still be versatile in less common colors like green, purple, red, or blue? What versatile style of shoe would you suggest for black tie events?

I like the idea of black suede oxford captoes with a tuxedo, in stead of the usual shiny stuff. (Not that I have tuxedo occassions.)

Of course not, mid-brown would be the most versatile. Any colour such as those listed can look good, but would also severely limit what it can be worn with.

There is no such thing, for black tie events you should wear patent oxfords or opera pumps, neither of which are remotely versatile for anything other than black tie.

Although, I do agree with NOBD that a black suede oxford could be kinda cool for certain events, the sort where you could also get away with wearing a velvet jacket.

Suede shoes can definitely be worn with a suit!

Where I'm at I never see suede shoes (other then on boots) so I love wearing them to differentiate. I love the look personally. I was inspired by Spoo wearing a pair of suede wingtips (Alden I think... for the record I'm not sure it was Spoo either) But who it was is beside the point, they look great with a suit.

Check out the dark brown suede Carmina oxfords at the Armoury store.
