There is a huge place in the mainstream marketplace today for things that appear urban, authentic, non-corporate, and non-white. This can be seen in many areas, for example the recent trend of "lifestyle centers" replacing indoor malls. These new outdoor malls are successful because they tap into this desire by attempting to bring an "urban" experience to the suburbs.

Why do you find it so difficult to believe that some large corporations may be capable of creating musical content and performance of this type that fools people such as yourself? I suspect you are underestimating these companies abilities, and overestimating the general public's savvy.

Mediocrity is inescapable, celebrated even.

Yo man stereotyping the American public isn't going to get you anywhere in life. It's fun to feel superior but I really haven't met too many people who fit into the exact category you describe.

Bjork is good but I don't know if she's "inaccessible." The Bad Plus playing Gyorgy Ligeti is inaccessible, Bjork is just kind of underexposed/unnerving?

Plus Esperanza Spalding just won a Grammy so I'm feeling benevolent toward the American public.

How about a fit including the most patterns possible? I think that'd be fun as hell.

If you come down to columbus circle to say hello I'll buy you a coffee or a water or something.

There are also a lot of places to eat in the upper 50's on broadway
