I think GSK might be ok, they recently announced a buyback, right? However, pharm stocks kind of scare me.
As for the RDS.A... personally think the other oil companies will do better. I have COP, and it has done awesome, plus it has a great dividend.

Thoughts on VALE?

No, it was up like 1800% yesterday. It opened down like 40% today and then shot up like 60%. Seems way to risky though. Part of me wants to buy some just to see if it gaps up tomorrow morning.

I was just really surprised that there was this much action with the dreaded "D" and a RS coming.

OK~ Not sure why you are saying this?

This is the stock 'idea' club, or is it?

alright, here's what i'm talking about: Mike RDS.A also has a dividend, infact the dividend is 4.85% at todays market price of $69.22, COPs dividend is 3.12% at todays price of 70.49. Oil producers are all pretty much down, I like all of them as I expect they will all expand with the improvement of the US economy. I'll even like BP since they are going to start paying out a dividend again, though it's not what it was. I do like the fact that COP is heavily institution owned. GSK pays a 5.33% dividend at todays price of $38.27. So, I think we're from two different perspectives, you guys seem to be into penny speculative stocks where I like big boring dividend growth stocks. PS, anyone who shorts stocks knows better than to short the ones that pay out a large dividend.

SkinnyGoomba, I didn't realize that they payed a dividend that high. Yeah, I think the oil companies are pretty safe.

Haha, I am also NOW into solid companies, as I tried my luck this summer in penny stocks and didn't do well...I was trying to make a quick buck, it worked, but I got greedy and didn't get out. Lost it all...

I'm a light investor, pretty conservative and dont take crazy risks. I'll admit i dont know much about options but i do know a good deal :). I want to share a tip of a company on the rise.
Micron Technology, ticker MU, they make semiconductors, and have shown steady growth analysts said the stock is valued at $17 and is tarding at $11.26 currently.
Glad someone put a thread like this up... Lets hope for a Bull market everyone!

I started off in Mortgage insurers after a few years of investing with a 'club'. I got into them whent he industry fell apart in July 2008 and did well with them. I picked the ones that took on the least amount of risk by comparison to their peers. Simply thinking that if the riskiest ones avoided bankruptcy than the better ones would as well. I moved on from them to Large caps in distressed sectors and I like that alot better. I did well with small companies, but the volatility was enough for me to get out of it, one bad news article would send investors running for the hills.

I like large cap dividend growth stocks and I try to get a good deal on them, like when BP happened I bought up more XOM since the good usually go down with the bad, but not as far.
