For $5000 and you like the Italian style, you can take the plane, get off in Rome and then come in Macerata, buy with the remaining 1 o 2 pairs of handmade shoes and 3 / 4 casual shoes. As our district are: Silvano Lattanzi, Prada, Tods, Santoni, Lsp Serafini, Piergiacomi, Paciotti, Fabi, Premiata, Bruschi, Hugo Boss etc. Finally, make a nice holiday, "Le Marche" are beautiful!

OP: don't waste the airfare. Besides, do you really want to say, "hey baby, check out my dinkelacker's!" 1. EG Chelsea in black (202) 2. John Lobb Paris Phillip II in black 3. John Lobb Paris City II dark brown museum calf http://us.estore.johnlobb.com/city-ii-34.html 4. G&G Burlington in vintage Rioja. 5. Good old American cordovan Alden's

Yes, a rotation of 1 1/2 pairs (which is what he would be able to afford on a $5000 budget for bespoke) seems like the appropriate, SF answer.

Assuming the OP is in the U.S., do you mean, if he buys a $1000 ticket to Europe + hotel accomodations so he can buy bespoke from your beloved austro-hungarian friends? In that case, fine, maybe he can get two pairs. We know how much pride you have in your region's bespoke shoes. We get it.

But I agree that Vass and St. Crispins should be on the short list.

Get one pair of Black Lobb's. One pair of medium brown Lobb's. One Dark Brown EG's, and one pair of light (chestnut or edwardian) eg's. Then you're good.n Two with round toes and two with square toes.
