Need Sunglasses Recommendations

I have always bought cheapie sunglasses, which puts me at the mercy of whatever is typically trendy at Target. That said, I'm upping my personal style quotient, and I'm looking for something a little more classic and a little less trendy. Trouble is, I have no idea what kind of sunglasses are appropriate, and I still don't want to spend a **** ton of cash.

Any recommendations for this ugly mug? I have no idea what my "head shape" is. Mrs. Sheep says "block" but I'd like your opinions.

Looks oval to me, which means you can wear pretty much any style. Get yourself some Persol aviators.

I've never liked large frames so I prefer something like nano-wires from Oakley or something from Maui Jim (frameless)

Not sure if they are SF approved.

I tried a pair of Oliver Peoples aviators but they looked like girl glasses on me so I gave them to my wife

You have a big knee. Or the picture is accentuating it.

Congrats!

Obviously if your face suits them its hard to go wrong with 714's. I personally prefer Oliver Peoples sheldrakes, although they will probably be too small for your face.

I have traditionally gone the sport sunglasses route, a la Oakley, and I am looking for a departure from that. Will check out Maui Jim.

I have been known to eat apples through fences.

I might add that if at all possible try the glasses on before buying. I recently purchased a pair of Maui Jim Kapalua. Awesome looking glasses (rimless) with bronze lenses and gunmetal frame. Turns out they don't fit my face. I'm now out $200 and not able to return them

Not trying to hijack the thread, but is Maui Jim SF-approved? I got a pair as part of a gift package, but wasn't impressed with the prominent logo on the lens.

Though I got mine for $80 two years ago. I mainly like that you can get them in several sizes.

+1 for RE aviators. These are fantastic! Got some for a trip to Tokyo to attend a conference and they work well with both a suit and casual clothes.

Plus...

I got myself a pair of ray-ban aviators the other day. Your face is similar to mine so I think they would like fine and at $109, that makes them a lot cheaper than the Persols I was considering...

What do wayfarers have to do with your recommendation?
