Hey jrd617...great post on Super Bowl weekend.

George Halas, Vince Lombardi and Tom Landry dressed like leaders of men in a world of sweat, bruises and blood.

I was always impressed when watching vintage videos, that even the fans of baseball in the 50's dressed with consideration and style to watch a game. The game was a special event to the fans and they dressed accordingly.

What a shame that the NFL Coach of the Year, Bill Belichick, is a great football mind dresses like a total slob. Brilliance shouldnt exclude style. Even if he has no personal sense of style, he has the resources to be coached and dressed with style.

At least basketball and hockey coaches try to dress with style like the Halas, Lombardi's and Landry's of a bygone Football era.

One coach - Mike Nolan of SF tried to wear suits but ran into issues b/c of the league's contract with Reebok. Everyone on the sidelines had to wear Reebok apparel. I think eventually he was able to wear one after Reebok produced some suits.

Quite a difference, though not liking the low gorge and long jacket in the third picture:

Unimpressive for the time period. I wouldn't say they stood out apart from any other wealthy person.

Not an NFL coach, but I always thought Bear Bryant had a good look:

I like all 3 but I'm a little biased towards Tom Landy myself.

I agree, Danny White was always questionable but his backups were also not the answer.

Roger Staubach left big shoes to fill.

That blue trench Landry is wearing is awesome.

First and foremost, what an oddly relevant post. Secondly, this look is timeless. I'm not a fan of the hat, but if he was walking down the street wearing this today, he'd still be well dressed. To me, this is absolutely timeless style, and something everybody should strive for. I refuse to believe everybody dressed this well, whenever the picture was taken; you don't just know how to dress like that.
