I'd like to live in LA for a few years. Can you put me up while I find a job/apt?

People from sunny states who wonder how residents of the northeast survive remind me of suburbanites who wonder how people can live in the city. Just like there's a reason people are willing to pay $1 million for a one bedroom condo in NYC, there's a reason people are ready to live through the winter months in Boston, Chicago, NYC, and Montreal.
How can people live in Florida?
For me, Georgia and the Carolinas are the ideal climate - the seasons change, we get the hot summers (which I like), cool winters with the occasional cold spell (which I also like), and fall and spring days tend to be staggeringly beautiful.
jesus christ, i just got one kid settled, i don't need another one. you can come for the weekend, but i'm counting the bags when you check in.
You live in a bumblefuck city. I live in Chicago. Ergo, I win regardless of weather situation. THAT is why the Yankees do it. Yankee cities are much better than the south.

I tremble at the thought of leaving the confines of the Northeast elitist/intellectual culture.
