Had a meet with Rubinacci yesterday, decided to go with a DB Cream Linen Sport Coat, thought I'd get something different than the usual shade of navy, grey or plaid. Anybody else order anything?

Seems like you have been having some issues with them recently?

Just one suit that came out a little wonky. The new order fits great, except they need to let it out a bit at the waist.

Manton would be jealous of the dead-on sleeve pitch.

Met with MRub today in London. Russell faux plaid is off the chain as is the gray flannel pinstripe. Pics to follow over the weekend.

Did you tell him you're very upset that Mafoofan's suits are taking so long?

Do Rubinacci bring all their swatch books with them when they travel? Seems a lot of the good stuff is the vintage and assorted bolts in the vault.

This thread is useless without pictures.

They only bring books from some of the lux merchants, like Scabal. Maybe a Harrisons book or two, but generally not much traditional English stuff--which is the opposite of the impression one gets in the Naples store. Luca explained that this is what their New York clients prefer. I'm inclined to believe him.

The other travelling tailors I've visited in NYC all lean heavily to Italian goods and are impressed if you show up with English lengths. You can't teach taste, but you can recognize it.
