Slim fit shirts tight on the neck and comfortable suits.

I keep finding with all of my shirts that they are ridiculously uncomfortable. Any ideas for comfortable suits/shirts?

Also, my current shirts are actually mildly transparent. Do quality shirts do that too?

All of your shirts are uncomfortable? Buy ones that fit you.

If you don't like shirts that a mildy see through get a heavier type cloth like pinpoint oxford.

They fit really nicely with the exception of the neck.
None of the shirts I've bought have a neck size that fits me.

Normally shirts are sized off your neck. Sounds like you're buying the wrong size.

How "too tight" are we talking about? You could try having a tailor move the button a bit if you are off by half a size. Not sure if that would screw up the look of the collar too badly.

I do understand the predicament to a degree as my neck size is 15.5 - 16 and I find that a size 16 seems to go way up in chest proportion than a 15.5 does when you buy OTR.

MTM is the only sure way.

Looks like the classic issue if most shirts fitting like tents. If you buy your correct neck size, the body will be too blousy. Either fit based on your neck and look for slim fit, or get made-to-measure. I suppose you always bought shirts for the purpose of wearing them more casually open collar? It's not a surprise they don't fit in the neck if you never gave it consideration when closed. Like everyone said, buy ones that completely fit.

size correctly. if you have to go to a store and have an associate do it for you, then by all means, go.

if you insist on buying RTW shirts that don't fit, and want them to fit (do you see the paradox here)

a) go mtm
b) go to the tailor

I have a similar problem, L neck and XL arms. So RTW-wise I would have to pick between too large a neck or too short arms. I decided to go MTM.

But strictly speaking Nicola is right. If you're not ready to go MTM though I just saw these:

I say no to extenders. They leave an ugly gap between the collars and if your shirts have a placket that'll look crooked.

If you're really sticking with RTW prepare for a long search. I have sizing problem myself with RTW shirts as I need shirts with 17" shoulder to shoulder and 15" neck and most shirt brands tend to start at 18" shoulders or when they do have 17" shoulders they are 14-14.5" neck.

Also it's a good idea to post pics of yourself in said shirts since we gentlemen here love to perv on other men's physique with the excuse of judging whether it really does or does not fit.
