Also, I see that there are still openings, but a friend drove the marathon course last weekend and called it 'mountainous'. I think I'll pass.

My first half was in Seattle, which is mountainous compared to Illinois.
I found the hills to be refreshing and helped break up the flatness and used different muscle groups.
Now I love hills and cant find any!

Sorry your race didn't go well. I was registered, but ended up getting sick that morning and didn't even make it to the start line. Oh well, I guess I got post-it dispenser out of the deal.

As far as the austin marathon course goes, it definitely isn't "mountainous". And if you run the half-marathon you get to skip the Exposition portion of the course which has the most hills. Certainly not as fast a course as 3M, but running a fast time is still pretty do-able, especially if you've done any kind of hill training.

hi guys,,,
Running is basically a gait in which at regular points during the running cycle both feet are off the ground.Regarding your question different people answer you in different way but from my point of you the last time i run was almost a month ago.

^not sure if serious

5 gnarly, wet brooklyn miles this morning. Have a feeling that running outside is going to be impossible for the next 48 hours, so glad to get it in.

This deserves more attention. how did you feel afterwards? now? I know a couple of seasoned marathon runners who swore off stair races as absolutely hellish.

Legs feel fine today, though a little sore, in fact I hope to go running this evening; if I can kick my cough. Far and away the worst part about this race is the air quality. Emergency stairwells, by design, are not well ventilated, and add to that ESB was built in the 1930's. As a result you have very dank, dusty stale air. Just destroys the lungs and heart.

I plan on running it again next year, and may wear a HR monitor just to see how hard I'm working.
