Can someone please explain the appeal of the commes des garcons "play" line? Why do shops in the US/Canada/Europe choose to stock dozens variants of the same t-shirt and converse-type sneakers with that logo on it?

Yet if you ask the same stores to consider carrying plain higher end Japanese tees which are within the same price range, they often tell you they don't feel they can sell it. Thus, I can only conclude that CDG Play is the higher end fashion equivalent of an A&F or Supreme logo'd item.

Sure, I kind of like the logo too. It would be cool to put the logo on a few items of each collection and leave the other items unbranded. But the idea that store buyers would choose to stock DOZENS of premium priced items all with that logo on it is truly bizarre. It says a lot about just how similarly influenced the customers whom shop at their store are to that of the very mass market retailers they likely despise.

Totall on board with CDGPlay confusion always felt that way seeing it at Roden, outside of the fragrances anyway. It's all really boring basic stuff with nothing to really recommend it... so what about the logo makes the difference exactly?

the heart is pretty cute. ive thought about buying those cdg play sneakers a few times as well as a few other items (black heart on black button up is really cute imo) but its a mystery to me why. usually i hate branding ?_?
