... what are the clothes and accessories shops that I absolutely must visit?

I'll be in the vicinity of The Rocks, and at the mercy of public transport and taxis.

Any tips greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

pick up a pair of RM Williams boots on George St near Wynyard station?

The Herringbone flagship store is just behind Circular Quay. DJs is worth a look. There's a nice watch shop and a good hat shop in The Strand Arcade and the usual international designers in the QVB (both The Strand and the QVB are worth a look just for the buildings). Darlinghurst and Surry Hills have a few independent stores.
But, overall, if I only had a day in Sydney, I wouldn't spend it shopping. Too many good restaurants, bars and views to enjoy.

There is also a RM Williams at the airport which may be cheaper.

To make the most of Sydney for a day - get a cheap flight to Melbourne in the morning and back that evening.

Dont bother shopping, not doubt you will get better deals wherever you are coming from.
See the sights, drink the drinks, eat the produce and eye off the woman

Well I never expected to see that attitude here. But to make the most of Sydney head straight to Bondi Beach, forget the shopping. Bondi Beach is exceptional at present I was there Sunday morning, mind you still recovering from overdosing on eye candy
