The line was supposed to be humorous - today's challenge was to come up with an ensemble for which one had not spent more than $500 on all its parts (exclusive of footwear) - we're not supposed to look cheap, we're simply supposed to be thrifty in our expenditures, and look good.

I was up trying to taking pics in the pre-dawn light. Thus, I am going to mix in some older shots of this identical fit as most shots were way too dark today.

Suit: Polo USA, virtually identical to Chester Barrie Purple Label...$125.00 on E-Bay
Shirt: Tommy Hilfiger Ithaca...$29.99 at TJ Maxx
Tie: Barba 7 Fold...$1.50 at local Goodwill
Square: Linen...$12.99 at Steinmart
Shoes: Vintage Wright Cordwainers....$50.00 on E-Bay.

Total: $219.48.

Have a great day, budgeteers!!!

Mike

It was cold. The shoes are actually normal laceups with galoshes.

It's a VERY crunchy tie, Paolo, and I have so far not been able to coax it into a double 4-in-hand, which I think would have done the trick. Double Fours are a bit taller and narrower than Regular Fours (at least the way I tie them), and I presume that's the kind of change you're recommending?
.

^Thx, TB. Your FIH looks fine. I don't think Paolo was referring to the type of knot, but rather the fact that the FIH you have tied needs to be tightened up so that the top of the shirt collar doesn't show above the tie.

Wow. You really do it up. The tie is a little much for me, but it's probably a result of the flash.

I am just picking, UC. No offense meant.

I do admire your gusto, you certainly go balls to the wall every day. I am surprised that Windsor has not generated more scorn though.

The tie is a bi-color silk - when seem from different angles, it can look anywhere from light blue to an orange-red, which is why it photographs so strangely. It is also not one of my favorite ties - it was cheap, its major advantage in today's contest.

$1000 tie pin, if you didn't mention that I would just think it's a gold color pin. But with great respect sir, you look great like always.

None taken - fret not.

Is there a FIH mafia here, trying to stamp out half Windsor knots?

Thanks. For what it's worth, the coat and shoes were thrifted, the cap, tie, and trou were bought new at outlets, and the shirt was thrifted by a friend and given to me.

Thanks, Yizz. It is all about careful and constant shopping. I have cut back on E-Bay hunting as of late though...although I did score a great SC last weekend.
