Hmm interestingly enough, the length is on par with the other Barrie last shoes, give or take a couple of millimeters. The width at the forefoot however, is a bit narrower than the others.

How measured? Laser? Calibrated recently?

Seriously, for me:

Barrie - down half size (9.0 B/D) and it has plenty of room (I usually wear with a thicker sock)
Grant - down half size (9.0 B/D) but tighter/narrower (I usually wear with a thinner sock)

I won't buy a shoe on the Trubalance last (too bulbous) but I guess I'm in the minority because I feel it is a bit shorter than the Barrie (it does have a more bulbous toe box)

I've never tried a modified last shoe.

All others - Plaza, Aberdeen, Hampton, Leydon, and I believe Tremont - are 9.5 B/D but the Plaza is the widest of this group and I probably could wear a 9.5 A/C in the Plaza.

I'm embarrassed to think about the thousands of dollars of "educational expenses" I've incurred to develop the foregoing recitation.

The measurements were done in the nanotechnology lab from my campus. I can email you the print out if you want.

It was done with my eyes. I got home, took off the shoes, put shoe trees inside. I then took out a pair of boots on the Barrie last as well, and compared the left side with the right side of Winn Perry's....so the soles are touching each other. It's not painfully tight or anything, but a bit tighter.

I also use the sock trick with my Indy's.

I'm done with Aldens for a while. Next 3 pairs will be: monks, black cap toe bluchers, and some sort of whiskey boot. I will probably wait for my tax return to buy the goodies, haha.

it's funny the difference in sizes between the different leathers and different lasts can usually be compensated by thicker or thinner socks from my experience

The Winn Perry boots in 8.5 were really tight on me, like a true 8.5 (I am a standard 9D on the Brannock device). I sent them back and got a pair in 9D, and they fit great. Really weird. Maybe you should let them know, because they told me I was the first person to complain about sizing.

It's weird you guys are having this issue because I got my reverse chamois from Winn Perry a month ago and they were spot on: I'm a 9C in Allen Edmonds and 8.5D worked fine.
