I'm not sure why that guy attacked me like that. I guess some people just have the integrity to know what's appropriate and some don't. I wouldn't even want to begin to count the hours I've spent toiling in gritty filthy thrift stores in a mostly futile effort to find the better spots. If some clown came along in my town and EXPECTED me to just give up whatever little edge I may have EARNED through long bouts of trial and error .... well, you get the picture. I stand by what I said earlier. Put some ******* effort into it. Besides, even my best spots are often void of anything worth buying. I think this guy misses the point. Thrifting is as much, if not more, about the hunt than the kill. Cold comfort I suppose to someone who's just looking to flip and make as much money as quickly as possible.

Minus the F bombs, I pretty much concur.

This!

On a funnier note, I need your gents advice. So, there is a GW near my office and I've gottento know one of the workers there. We chat it up from time to time. I realized she has a crush on me. How do I know this? Well, other than body language, how she and her coworkers react when I get there, and her occassional "discreet" signs... I just know. Hah!

She even gave me items at half price when I know she shouldn't be. Should I continue to flirt w her when I've no intentions of ever making a move and in return get "preferential" treatment?

Thoughts?

Cheers

yes...flirting with YOU may be all she needs or wants. You have the big head thinking that she wants to be shagged by you.

+1.

It's probably different for those of you who find just one Kiton instead of two, and consider it a mediocre day (

) but even the best, most productive stores I've ever seen anywhere are very, very unpredictable. You're just not going to strike gold every time you go out. Sure, someone may find a ton of awesome stuff... but you don't very often hear about, for example, the dozens of stores they hit to find that stuff, most of which produced nothing. Someone awhile back mentioned it was only halfway through the week and they'd already been to 30 different stores... not saying anything about that person in particular, he's a great guy, and that IS more than most of us hit on a regular basis, but it's a great example of The Grind(tm) that you have to do if you want to find stuff with anything approaching regularity.

I've learned over the years that those who work at GW are normally working there for a reason. Some have past issues with drugs, alcohol, etc. Some have physical or mental disabilities. No matter the case, I would not even begin to mess with a GW employee. You're thrifting to provide resources to assist the employees in whatever battle they are fighting, not to flirt with them for 1/2 off a $4 shirt.

Everything has been covered. Viewpoints have been clarified.

I think all of you would look a look a little better if you just dropped the bickering.

+1, this is my fav thread to read and view the finds. If your not going to contribute in a productive way it might be best to stay away. Reading back some of the month's(years) you will see that once in a while this type of thread bashing comes up for the same reason and the same tone comes from those that either feel some type of entitlement to other members hard won insight or are clearly a flipper, neither is liked nor wanted. Post your finds, keep your secrets and don't link your ebay sales.

True. This theme has reared its ugly head periodically, though seemingly more often as of late. I'm not a shrinking violet and can't help but speak my mind. In future I'll bite my tongue. I think I've made the point by now.
