I sat in a lilac bush for a few hours one day with my point and shoot taking pictures of bees.

Hah a little late on this one but I just revisited this thread. Nice shots of the bee. They, for me, are very tough to take. Unless they are totally planted on something then it's easy, but the bee that I took was jumping around constantly. I was lucky to even get the shot that I did in focus. I did have one shot of a bee facing me!! BUT---slightly out of focus by like a few mm'ers. Oh and butterflies are tough too. That was actually my mission to get a few pics, but saw the bees and went for that.

Did someone say bees? I got a few of those. In the middle is the queen. I must have had a death wish that day. The shot was taken at about a foot away from the swarm. DSC03397 by DYSong Photography, on Flickr

Wow you're brave as hell dude. I'd take it with a telephoto 30ft away but definitely not a foot. Awesome shot.

A bit crazy maybe. LOL. The bees were swarming. As long as you don't accidently kill one or poke them with a stick they won't attack you. Oh and thanks.
