Fordham's Fashion Law Institute ... Waste of time???

Anyone in the legal field care to weigh in on this program? Is this a waste of time/money? Not worth it?

I'm a current 2L at g'town and am fortunate to have a summer associate position at a "lower" big law firm in town. I've always had an interest in fashion with family who've graduated from FIT. Never really thought there was a real career in "fashion law" unless you knew someone or had connections, similar to entertainment law field.

Anyway my summer job start date is after the end of this program so I could do both. Plus I can get 2 credit hours from g'town, assuming they accept it.

But this program is new, never heard of it and never knew it existed and dont know anyone who knows anything baout it. so not sure i want to be a guinea-pig and throw 3,900 down the drain for 2 credit hours + NYC expenses.

this class sex ratio is going to be 90% girls, so i say it's worth it.

Can't you get the same info from books and articles for free?

Do you have a burning desire to work in that field of law? If so, it'll look great on a resume for applying to such jobs. But from what I'm reading, it looks like it's just stuff you should already have learned, just with the examples the professor gives in class specific to one industry.

yeah actually the information on their website is really barren and honestly sounds like a joke. its not even necessarily limited to JD students and looks like anyone can apply. no mention of how grades are distributed such as papers or exams or work experience with actual designers ...

i think im passing. in a perfect world i would love to be in this field but its such a small niche that its prob not realistic/feasible.

I attended and I hate to say, but it is a bit of a waste. It is really a basic, basic intro. to "fashion law" - aka you read a few cases, talk about clothes and models. Not very scholarly.
