Were button flys invented so people dont leave their zipper open?

Still getting adjusted to button flys. I am awful at buttoning them up at the urinal to the point I prefer to piss in a stall so I can have ample time to **** with it without looking like I'm playing with it at the urinal.

Oh well, practice makes perfect....

I don't see how zips are quicker or easier to open. It takes 2 motions to open a pair of pants with a zipper: opening the top button and then undoing the zipper. It only takes one with a button fly: opening all of the buttons, including the top one, in one motion.

sometimes i don't bother with buttoning or zipping afterwards. it's not like the dick will stick out or something.

You're doing it wrong. Leave the top button closed and just unzip.

And forget the motion, it's the action. Zip! in one millisecond or button-button-button-button up for 3 seconds.

I've pissed with the top button closed before, just undoing the fly. The motion is indeed faster that way, but that doesn't work for me at all, because then you have to fumble with getting your junk through your underwear before you can take your piss. I prefer to pull the waistband of my underwear down and piss over that, but that takes too much fumbling too if the top button is still closed. If it takes you 3 seconds to open your button fly, you're not doing it right either. You should be able to rip all the buttons open in the millisecond that it takes you to pull down your zipper.

I always have to do the button fly, I've taught my girl but she never learns. And then its an ordeal getting my pants off. Slim jeans + Heattech long johns is rough going for her

Pissing is definitely easier with a zip. Unzip, reach in to the underwear fly and pull it out, then slip it back in, zip up, and off you go. And I think he meant it takes three seconds to button back up, not unbutton. I don't do the "rip" because I usually only need the first two buttons undone and it saves time buttoning up that way. If you're wearing a belt it extends the time even more because you have to undo and redo it with a button fly, not so with a zipper.

All that said, I do prefer button fly overall because of the way the buttons lay down and how the jeans feel more sturdy and long-lasting.

+1 on this technique. button fly is a pain **********, but what can you do if the jeans fit you just right? bah!

+1. I have a pair of Edwins where I used to use a rubber band over the button to keep the fly up. It stays up on its own now, but the jeans are so big that I can take them off without unbuttoning them.

I think it varies from person to person. I pee southpaw, which means that the fly on a normal pair of underwear is basically non-functional; there are too many corners to turn. Pulling down the front of the waistband is the only choice, which means the top button has to be undone even on zip fly jeans. This eliminates any efficiencies that might otherwise be realized with a zip fly.

Why when the fly is there to not have to pull your junk down like you're a child afraid of pissing on himself? To me, pulling your underwear down to piss when there's a fly reminds me of when little kids would drop their pants to their ankles and pull their shirt up tucked under their chin to piss at the urinal.

To me, any kind of time advantage that you get from not undoing the top button on your jeans to piss is more than negated by the amount of time it takes to manipulate your junk through the fly of your underwear and then your jeans. Fly openings on jeans and underwear are too small to allow this to be done quickly and cleanly, at least for me. Plus, I prefer not to get that last drop of "after-pee" on my hands putting my junk back in through the fly. Zip flies are definitely faster to close, no two ways about that, but I care more about speed before I piss than after.

I haven't done it since I was 8. When I was in elementary school, the older kids made fun of the younger kids that pissed through their flies rather than above their waistbands. Not that I would ever bully someone over that, but I do see their point.
