I've eliminated many pairs as well,I have seasonal shoes that don't get worn for months but I make sure that I wear them a few times a year. Oh yeah,and I don't think more than 40 pairs is good.

Agreed, and I'd gone beyond that. Also, my really good calf dress shoes were feeling neglected, so it was time to start wearing them.

Great,not that I need any shoes but If there are any cordovans you want to get rid of,please let me know. At this point,I have room for a few pairs of Vass left in my closet.

worse advise i ever read about shell shoes is to size down 1 whole size

I know of a couple of brands where a half size down is necessary, but not down a whole size.
