The Ultimate Vass (Footwear) Thread (Pictures, reviews, sizing, etc...)

It seems a little hard to find pricing info from this forum.

If I order directly from Vass, it seems to be Euro 430 per pair, Euro 20 extra for a shoetree pair, and Euro 100 or so for FedEx delivery (lesser for ground mail if needed). In all, this is about US$ 700 or so.

Is this about right?

Portonoy needs to replace his VASS collection with the same exact shoes ,but this time with decent looking close-cut welt. That standart bumper-car welt is grotesque.

Then they would be Lobbs, Corthay or Aubercy, not Vass.

There is room for all.

True that E! There's a bunch missing that I never have photographed, particularly in shell. I know I have a pair of the U last chukkas in suede too.

Andrew, great stuff and I have to say that I have gone from loving to U last to now loving teh F Last. Not sure if that is progression or regression. I've gotten rid of all my U Last stuff except for a suede Chukka and and a shell Chukka, which I still may punt but the F last and, evenmoreso, the St. Crispins, are what are really speaking to me know. A bit less in your face, but very elegant lasts nonetheless.

Ed, I've been going through the same evolution. Have sold off all my U last with the exception of an Italian Oxford (wearing today), although going strong with the F last. My favorite last at the moment is the St. Crispins chiseled (have a pair of tobacco chukkas). I'll need to plan for a few more of those for 2011 (a single monk, double-monk and another chukka).

Have to agree fellas. All my recent Vass purchases have been on the F last, which also fits me closest to a bespoke shoe of any.

Yeah, it's a bit inevitable. I've even been purchasing the New Peter last for two pairs of upcoming boots.

U-last and nothing else. F is ok, but lacks character it is sort of "chinless". However I can see St. Crispins attraction, as they have a very rare old-world aesthetic, as if they came from some 1920 catalogues.

Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder. F-last makes me go "uncle". The U-last is much younger, sharper.
