Last night I was out with friends at a bar and met a group of Italians visiting London. Anyway we started talking about style and dress as small chat. One of the girls told me that she had worked at a factory which dealt with goods from many high end brands during college. She explained to me that they would receive weekly containers of produced goods from China belonging to brands such as "Marc Jacobs" and others. I asked her what exactly it was they did and she went on to explain that the products would be 80% complete and all they (the factory in Italy) did was the final "make up" and "touches" to the goods. This apparently allowed brands to press the "Made in Italy" label although it technically isn´t. She also said shoes makers took this route to cut costs aswell, but they are never really made in Italy. Anyone heard of anything like this ?
