They're not impressive at all in real life. There's plenty of other chuckalikes, leather and otherwise, that are much better.

or am I thinking too much about this because they are all simple white sneakers?

vans eras make you look like a dead-end 30 year old frat bro in training. Really, though, they're all-white sneakers. Some CP's might pop up, or something - I'd sit on it.

edit: it's not as though they can't look acceptable, with slim, trim shorts and a short sleeve button down or something.

Ok. I think I'm between the vans authentic and the jack purcell canvas. I hated the toe cap on the jack purcell at first but it has really grown on me.

thanks for the input. I'll probably go with those. I have skinny legs and fear the purcells might lead to a clown shoe look on me. Plus the authentics are cheap as hell.
