White linen is too sharp and business-like for all applications. White silk is an abomination. Cream silk is happy with everything.

A pocket square should be like a wall flower.

I don't know, Mr. foof. I find myself going sans-square more than I wear them and no-square-at-all would always trump cream silk in my decision-matrix. (Admittedly it's usually under-coffeed and rushed.)

I have a plaid square that I wear folded a lot during the warmer months. It has an almost madras effect which seems right when it's 85 degrees outside.

I can't stand solid cream silk squares. They seem like something you find in a limo after a senior prom. Silk needs color and pattern. If you want plain, stick to white linen, the only true OneSquareÂ

I completely agree about this pocket square only suiting for the summer weather. Personally, the cream square is great and all but is bland. Then again, I like mine to show a little craziness and personality.

Isn't it obvious that off-white/cream linen is the true OneSquareÂ

I have a once-pure-white linen square that has since become mildly yellowed over time with wear. It's better now. +1

Of course it might have started as white in 1972 but has taken on the cream patina over the ages......
