Same here.
Looks interesting, but top-down shots never really seem to work.

(not me obviously, but it was the best fit from the entire trip and too good not to post)

I swear this look is coming back.
It still reminds me of Motel 6 bedspreads and curtains.

Most outfits are extremely bad, on purpose, for various theme nights. Flame away.

Upon arrival at the cabin. We got there first, hence the photo. This is, I think, the only serious outfit I wore the entire trip. Jacket is from UO (

); shirt/jeans/boots are Epaulet. Car in background is what I drive when the weather isn't good enough for the Fiat. Outfitted w/ snow tires for Tahoe. Didn't have to put chains on once.

Snow gear. Awful circa-2003 stuff that needs to be replaced. However, I think I have done a pretty good job of matching to my car and the surroundings in this shot. When I see people who live in areas that get regular snow posting actual fits on a daily basis, it absolutely astounds me. When you're traipsing through 2-3 feet of powder, how can you not be wearing what I'm wearing here, along with the biggest, ugliest boots conceivable. The lack of any coherent consensus in Uncontrol's winter boots thread totally makes sense to me now. Almost all of the locals in Tahoe appear to have given up on style, and it would seem, with good reason, too.

Duck night. We ate duck, and it was fantastic. Shirt & pants are Epaulet; tie is Brooks Brothers, Shoes are Bass, vest is vintage of unknown origin. I have no explanation for what my friend is wearing here other than that the tie was labeled "Ducks Unlimited."

1980s night. My outfit was an attempted approximation of the ski patrol dicks from Hot Tub Time Machine

the sock tuck is really essential to this fit

Caribbean night. This shirt is legitimately from the Caribbean and was purchased by my dad in the late 70s/early 80s. I'm actually surprised how often I find reasons to wear it.

keeping it classy on NYE

shot of all the guys on NYE. We had a Mad Men/cocktail night theme going on. Anyway, I really think I need to upgrade my snow gear. I'm not sure where to look first as most of the places that actually provide rugged pieces that provide real warmth & functionality have really, really boring stuff. I also believe this look is due for a serious comeback, but don't know where to source:

I really dislike themed anything. No hate, just sayin'. Sound like sorority functions imo. From my experience, most of the time they're kind of just an awkward pain **********. (Note I could not see any photos because they're blocked by work. So all I can comment on is themed events).

I actually think this looks pretty good (aside from the collar/polo aspect of it). He's like a cooler version of justin bieber and he looks better than a lot of people on here.

It's hilarious reading CtK tell other people "there is hope."

here's a shot from a few years ago of my Descente romper.

I wear maybe once a year for the past 5 or so years, usually when I feel like I'm gonna have a good day in the park

pictured here with napoleon dynamite boots though, and neon green 80's carrera goggles

for a while a few years ago they got semi popular on the slopes in the "ironic" crowd, although i guess that's where i fit in too

Stanley - Tahoe looked really fun. I live only a few hours away and still haven't visited. Hope to get a chance soon though.

I think you'd fair better if you had slightly fuller cuts. Slim clothing doesn't look good on a guy as skinny as you. I would also step back a bit with the stuff that kind of "flares out." The vest is an example. Take a few months and stick with the bare bones basics and get those to look good, then introduce small things here and there. The vest reminds me of the tie clip you had on. It's just a bit loud and unnatural.

You need a better suit, by the way. One that's probably two or three sizes down. Given how skinny you are, you may want to look into bespoke. I say this respectfully as a guy who's also quite slim. I haven't found any OTR suits to fit me, and I'm hoping to go bespoke this year.

Rick sneakers are massive.

I don't think I've seen a fit where they looked great. MMMs are another thing altogether.

Yeah, no kidding. The one pictured is a 36R and I should easily be wearing a 34R. I even found a blazer at a thrift shop marked 33R once that fit perfectly. It was black, double-breasted and had silver buttons though, so I didn't buy it.

As most are aware, I became a pretty big fan of Epaulet this last year and I was anxiously awaiting their sport coats until I found out they aren't doing size 34 in the initial run. So in the meantime, I'm going to try to look into Thick as Thieves at some point in the next couple of months. I've been meaning to for awhile and it just keeps getting delayed when other stuff comes up.
