Tods bag for a buck

BIN is $1 for this bag. Yet check out the shipping cost.
Looking at the seller's feedback, this seems to be his regular MO.

I am assuming ppl do this to avoid paying outrageous ebay fees. But I cant believe that ebay would allow this??

If they do allow it, I'm sure it will be short lived. However, it's a clever workaround.

I see this crap all the time. You're scrolling through the list and see something for so cheap that you start going nuts! Then you click on the item to really check it out. "Whats wrong with it? Why are they selling it for so cheap?" Then you see the shipping cost and laugh your ass off. "Good luck with that one, buddy!" So yes, Ebay allows it cause they don't really see the Shipping Cost. Ebay only steps in if the item is a Counterfeit/Fake or if someone Reports the Item.

It could've been an auction set up by the seller for another buyer.

eBay are a bunch of assholes who extort their users/customers at every opportunity for financial gain. He's not doing it in a sly manner, the shipping price is right there for everyone to see, so if it allows him to lower his total a bit and deny eBay that much revenue, more power to him. Effin' Meg Whitman.....

I say this after a seller recently listed a $2400 overcoat for me at $1 + $799 shipping. It arrived, I love it, and everybody who matters wins.

You gotta love how the entity providing the entire mechanism for these happy transactions apparently doesn't matter.

Not sure about a credit card dispute but I should think you'd be on shaky ground with PayPal. I'm obviously not a fan of eBay fees but at the end of the day they offer a service which you can either choose to use or not. You're paying for the product exposure. If you use it - pay the fees. The more people who try and circumvent it - the higher the fees will be for everyone else.

+1

Having recently had a very sour transaction on ebay and with PP, I could give a ****. As long as he/she is trustworthy, let him work the system and deny ebay money.

Screw e-Bay. Yes, it provides a convenient platform, subject to its benefits and pitfalls, but at the end of the day, it is just a public company that attempts to increase earnings for its shareholders at the expense of the people who keep it in business. Unless and until eBay can innovate other income streams through its business model, the only way to increase earnings is to raise fees on features and functionality that is no different than when they were charging a lower fee a year ago. I'm surprised it hasn't began charging for logging into your account.
