Do You Have One Low Shoulder?

I broke my left collar bone skiing when I was 19. My left shoulder is about 1/2" lower than my right. My MTM shirts are made with split and mitered yokes which compensate for the difference. OTR suits don't show it as much as altering sleeve length takes care of it. Not sure how MTM or bespoke suits would deal with unsymmetrical shoulders.

Basically eveyone does, unless you've been involved in sports/work that loads you symmetrically. Typically your preferred hand will have a lower (and maybe also wider) shoulder.

There is a thread by atailor that shows the pattern manipulation for a low shoulder.posted yesterday.

it can be from an accident or an injury but mostly it is natural in everyone. It is the way the bones in your shoulder branch out from the spine. We are not symmetrical.

Yes. Do you like? I think it makes me look younger. Of course it may just be the lighting in that particular photograph.

its more than just a high hip.
the pelvis is a rectangle, that pivots at the top of the center.
when the right side goes up it also protrudes and gets wider.
the left side gets lower and gets narrower.
all this the custom tailor can adjust your pattern for.
the m2m shop can adjust to a degree but not a fine tune adjustment.

Yes and I think is from driving tons of ours with one hand so one shoulder is higher than other.

I'm in the "yes and I blame carrying a bookbag on one shoulder" camp.

My left shoulder is higher, and I have a barely discernible degree of scoliosis.

Right side low here. It causes most RTW suits to pucker on the right lapel when buttoned. It is mostly remedied by my tailor. MTM turns out no better than my tailor can accomplish. I've recently commissioned a bespoke suit, and they took measurements of the slope of my shoulders with a tool that looked like a protractor. I haven't been in for my first fitting yet, but I'm anxious to see what kind of fit they can get on ol' righty of mine.

sorry we dont count you guys. he he
the split is about 95% rt and 5% lt.
you must always tell your tailor about the low shoulder. because most tailors would not care to face the aggravation.

Figured I might as well ask here for the benefit of the community, instead of a personal message.

How do MTM/custom shops adjust for a low shoulder? For example, I have a right shoulder that is lower by 0.5 inches. Is it as simple as adding extra yoke to the right by 0.5 inches? Or are there adjustments that also need to be made and can only be done if one goes bespoke?
