I bought today a Cucinelli light grey wool vest similar to this one from blue fly.

I found it at 75%off, so I paid a little above 300 USD. I am glad now that I did not buy a similar Hackett down gilet a few days ago. The Cucinelli fits much better. Is anybody wearing it well in WAYWRN?

There were two other in linen in my size for less then 300 USD, one in brown (like this) and one in navy. It looks less bulky than the wool one, but do I need one? Navy (too obvious) or brown?

I live in Europe and prefer the casual Italian brands: Fay, Cucinelli, Tods, Hogan, Herno, etc.

that gilet looks no different than a $29 Land's End vest. The latter would actually be warmer.

So other than gloating and being a label whore I see no point of such a garment.

Go big (a Loro Piana gilet in baby cashmere, for example, with suede trim and unmistakably a Loro Piana) or GTFO.

I couldn't disagree with this more, except that the Lands End vest may be warmer. The Cucinelli stuff looks head and shoulders above just about anything else to my eye. Now, is it worth the price, even at 75% off? Not a vest, not to me.

Actually in RL this does not look like a $29 warmer. But I do not see much the point of one in linen.

Actually I went today into shop having Loro Piana Horsey jackets on sale, but I'm not such a big timer to spend 3K for one.I have my eyes on a Herno wool/cashmere Horsey-style for much cheaper.

I've used my $90 Jcrew british khaki vest over a suit during some chilly SoCal days. I can't justify paying more than $150 for a vest, let alone as much as I would pay for a sportcoat or proper outerwear with sleeves.

I have one in cream that I picked up a few years ago. I like it. I don't think I've ever posted it in WAYWRN, though.

Also, ignore the haters.

I've always liked those Cucinelli vests but don't think I'd ever pay the price for them.

As nice as they are, and as much I was tempted to, I can't pay $500 (and that's already great B&S pricing) for a freakin' vest - Cucinelli or not.

There are better alternatives to BC. South Willard has some really good ones, hell even Brooks Brothers has some decent vests that I've gotten from their store.

I am partial to Cucinelli's Asian inspired collars.

He is to country-active wear as Mr. Armani is to city-lounge.
