It's the 2011 Raleigh Grand Prix. I don't plan going full commuter; I'm actually planning to transition over to more road work during the summer when I'm not in school. I've started upgrading parts, so far Ultegra shifters (older 2x9 to fit Tiagra), Tiagra brakes w/ dura-ace pads, San Marco saddle, and I just ordered some 105 pedals. Plus, I had all the cables redone. My friend is going to sell me his Ultegra grouping when he builds his new bike so it should be a major improvement then. I use it a lot at school since the campus is pretty big (UCSD), so I really just need the lock and I have my backpack for everything else.

If possible, bring your bike into class rooms. I took the bus to school for about 5 weeks then finally decided that it was safe to lock my bike outside. First time I rode it, it got stolen. Been bringing my bike in classes ever since.
With lecture halls seating several hundred people, I don't know if I can get it in. Usually I just try to park it in the middle of a bunch of other bikes or in plain sight of many people so they would notice someone trying to cut a u-lock. There are thousands of bikes at UCSD so it's easy to blend in, especially when there are much louder looking bikes than mine.

My school was very similar to UCSD and professors and TAs didn't care that I brought my bike in--they will give you funny looks though.

Any bike-related new years resolutions?
My simple one is to try to bike a little more--to work and for those short trips that really don't need to be driven. We'll see how I do.
More challenging: start mt. biking again this year. Of course, that requires getting in good enough shape and getting another bike (so I'll add another resolution: selling a bike to fund the new one).

I finished 2010 with my bike build...
I ended up just swapping out parts then eBay-ing the rest to save money.... luckily parts from the old bike sold well.
I did the "budget weight weenie" method and ended up shaving almost two pounds (around 1.7lbs) off my bike for around $200.

if you're into biking and still don't really know "weight weenie-ism" i beg you never to get into it... its a loosing battle (budget/time/sanity wise) any way you cut it.
Before: 18.8lbs
After: 17.13lbs
the funny/sad thing is.... 17lbs is considered "obese" by roadbike standards...
That looks great! I'm starting to get a lot more into cycling and I decided my next bike will be either Ti or steel w/ sram rival. I really don't see the point in worrying too much about the bike weight as long as it's under 19-20lb, but if you're racing, then it has to be 15ish.
