Won't suede shoes get trashed in New England winter weather?

I'm growing an appreciation for suede shoes. However my concern is that they'll get trashed if I wear them on the streets of Boston during winter. Between the sand, salt, and slush, I'm worried that they'll look ugly and unwearable by spring. Can you per-suade me (ha-ha) into buying a pair of suede shoes?

I'm a New Yorker, and this is why I'm not pulling the trigger until Spring....so sad...I'm struggling not to buy.

Took a pair of suede shoes in for repair and the guy said he would clean them for me. There were a few spots and general wear. Don't know what process he used but they look like new.

pure nonsense.

fellow member NOBD, who lives in Europe and wears exclusively suede, more or less, has the most experience in this field. he didn't encounter any issues.

besides we had this discussion with all pros and cons many times before.

That video was brutal. I was told to brush suede in the direction of the nap.

ftfy normal.

you brush it in the direction when you want an even appearance. mainly at the end of the procedure. otherwise do as you like, it doesn't hurt neither the suede nor your fear.

I equate suede with spring, summer, and fall not trudging through poorly shoveled walkways in Back Bay followed by wading ankle deep in slush at the intersection of Newbury and Tremont.

Wear your suede shoes in the same conditions as your calf shoes.
