Turtleneck Color W/ Grey Tweed Sportscoat?

Hey guys, I am trying out a combo that I have never done before (Turtleneck+Sportscoat), and for some reason I am having a bit of difficulty determining what turtleneck color would go best with my grey tweed sportscoat. The color of the sportscoat is similar to the hthr charcoal version of this coat: http://www.jcrew.com/mens_category/s...7972/17972.jsp Not sure whether I should be choosing something that blends in with the sportscoat or something that contrasts and gives it a "pop." Totally confused on what color palette would look best. Any thoughts / advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Black is the only way to go. White is corny, red would be cornier and don't do gray unless it's a monochromatic look you're going for. You didn't mention the color of the pants--others will want to know, too.

Thanks man. I would be wearing them with slim dark denim jeans.

Hmm...I actually expected black to be the 1st answer...I was just scared it would look a bit bland on a grey coat.

I agree with this. Wear a blak turtleneck then a festive or loud pocket square to grab the attention.

Interesting. Do you guys see a problem with a white/off-white turtleneck, and if so, why?

For some reason, I could see it looking much better than a black one, but interested to hear your thoughts.

Burgundy or wine provides more color than either black or white, and looks very rich.

Forest green, cream, light navy, very light gray. Burnt orange if you're feeling daring. Maroon may be a bit corny, but might just work. Black is boring and greatly restricts the range of compatible trouser colours.
