In my opinion, yes, it does. My grandfather, an Irishman from the old country, smoked a pipe from the time he was a kid to the day he died. I thought the little cancer sores on his lips gave him a definite masculine edge. I'm sure his wife found this edge attractive as well.

Maybe... but only for older guys. In the video the outfit combined with the awesome bic lighter makes him look just grand.

Thank you. I have been worried that my ultra masculinity was fading. Pipe smoking will take my overcompensation to the next level.

Watching a woman smoking a pipe has the same effect on me than watching one having a bikini wax...

Back when I was a young fellow in the '40s and '50s, pipe smoking had a very positive image. On the one hand, it was the mark of the thinker, the contemplative man, the intellectual. On the other hand, it was also the mark of the outdoorsman. Illustrations of the time in the outdoor mags often showed the male protagonists smoking a pipe, either out fishing or in a hunting lodge. Bruce Wayne (aka Batman) was depicted as a pipe smoker in his early years. I have a vague impression that Clark Kent was also a pipe smoker.

These days, I think it just seems sort of offbeat, a bit like wearing an ascot. (Of course, I do wear ascots frequently and smoke a friendly briar or meerschaum occasionally.) On several occasions when I was smoking a pipe in public, kids have asked me if I were a detective, so closely has pipe smoking become identified with the single character of Sherlock Holmes!

The idea of women smoking pipes just seems sort of not right to me, unless they are hillbilly grandmas puffing corncobs like Mammy Yokum.
