Other than any comments on how the two brands match up generally and within suiting....

Are the Caruso Purple Label sport coats and the Caruso Black Label Sport Coats basically the same? I have some of each, and they seem VERY similar.

I heard that Caruso for RLBL is the lowest standard of their model.
Don't know about the RLPL.

To add to the confusion, I had a RLPL suit and PRL suit made from the same cloth. I prefer the PRL one due to the softer shoulder.

Hmmm. Actually I'm not seeing the need for the head slap. Rappers basically advocating for a product that styleforum idolizes as well. Seems like people here have more in common with Jay and Kanye that you think. They like a LOT of the same brands we like here. Only difference is they can actually afford it rather than lurke the net for used clothes! Lol.

Well I own both, and they seem very similar, which is why I'm asking. I guess no one has really talked about it.

Tell us about them, with pictures and detailed analysis of their differences, strengths/weaknesses, pros/cons of each.

Well, while most rappers would only choose to include the top-of-the-line in their lyrics anyhow, "purple label" is much more identifiable as Ralph Lauren than "black label," since everyone and their brother makes a "black label" version of something: Armani has their black label suits, Johnny Walker has its scotch and Minetta Tavern has their burger... Sort of hard to know what they're talking about, and since there's a decent chance they were paid to mention products in their songs, it had better be identifiable as belonging to the company that paid them.
