my sympathies for the less than intelligent SA experience. It is generally true, however, that placing a special order at Hermes is not as simple as walking in off the street, picking a model/style you like, asking for the leather book and placing an order. It's my impression there are a limited number of special order/bespoke items that can be placed in a given year at the "podium" and not just anyone qualifies to get a slot; these are saved for long term customers. I think you have to establish a relationship with a senior SA over a few years, and then maybe she'll offer you a special order if there's something you want that they can't find for you. At least this was the case with my gf, who was only able to order stuff after buying several purses from the same SA over many years. At the mother ship in Paris it may be different, but I think it is still pretty much true that you can't just walk in off the street and place a bespoke order. I am also not sure how eager they are to accept special orders for small items like a breast wallet.
